FAQs
Timber Bracket Technical FAQ
- What steel thicknesses do you offer for brackets?
We offer a wide range of durability to match your project needs, starting at .125" (1/8") for decorative accents and light structural work, up to .5" (1/2") for heavy-duty, industrial-strength timber framing. - How do I choose the right thickness for my project?
- .125" to .1875": Ideal for decorative accents, smaller pergolas, or interior trim.
- .25" (1/4"): Our "standard" for most residential structural applications like deck posts and beam headers.
- .375" to .5": Best for massive timbers, commercial builds, or when you want a bold, heavy-metal "industrial" look.
- How do I ensure the bracket fits my specific timber size?
Don't rely on "nominal" sizes (like a 6x6 actually being 5.5"). Measure your wood's actual width. We typically build in a 1/16" buffer so the steel slides over the wood without a struggle, though we can adjust this for a "dead-fit" upon request. - Do you provide the hardware to match these thicknesses?
Yes, we can. Just ask us to add it. Whether you are using .125" plate or .5" plate, we can provide matching bolts, lags, and washers sized to fit your bracket holes and your timber depth perfectly. Make sure to ask about adding it to your order. - What corner styles are available for the brackets?
You can customize the "vibe" of your bracket by choosing from square, radiused, inverse radius, or cropped corners. We cut these precisely using our CNC plasma technology regardless of the steel thickness. - Can I get a custom hole pattern for my fasteners?
Definitely. Whether you need a standard two-hole pattern or a complex decorative layout, you can build your part online or send us a drawing for custom placement. - Are these brackets rated for outdoor use?
All our thicknesses—from 1/8" to 1/2"—can be finished with high-quality powder coating or galvanizing to help prevent rust and withstand the elements in any climate.
